Ebook versus paperback

Imagine the perfect Sunday evening! Many of us would definitely love to enjoy a good book to read with a cup of coffee within reach. Are you imagining yourself with a cup of coffee and an actual hard-paper book in your hands? Wait! It may be an ebook even.

The days are gone, when books were only associated with print media. With the technological advancement and increasing popularity of gadgets including the iPad, we have come to a stage where the book can be either an ebook or paperback.

Of course, there are multiple benefits of the digital world but the print books do stand at risk. It is actually a topic of a debate. With numerous advantages, e-books are simply better to print books.

EBook benefits-
Since the last few years, we have suffered through numerous natural disasters. With global warming on the rise, people have now become aware about the importance of trees and the green revolution is a hot topic today. Efforts have been put on all fronts to save trees. Do you know that almost 17 tress are cut down to make 1 ton of paper? Obviously the ebook can be a step towards green revolution. Using e-books would mean saving paper and saving trees indeed.

Another advantage you can avail with an eBook is its portability. Imagine a nice summer vacation. Enjoying nice books on a beach side would definitely be a great idea for book lovers. If you want to carry 7-8 books with you, then it will be hard with heavy luggage. Now, imagine yourself having just an iPad or laptop. You can enjoy multiple e-books stored in either of them. You can choose whatever you want to read. Definitely, this has eased our lives.

Another reason for the e-book revolution is the ease of access. You can access an eBook whenever you want. Shopping for an e-book through an online store is much simpler than wandering here and there in search of the right elusive book. Further, your search may or may not end up going back with a copy with you. You can avoid all this with e-books. You can easily search for a copy of your intended books and enjoy hassle free shopping. There is no need to worry about parking lots or traffic jams. You can buy your desired books in the comfort of your home or workplace.

Though there are numerous advantages of eBooks, what is keeping the printed word alive? As a serious author, you would definitely worry about piracy of your e-book. Definitely, with print media, you need not to worry about it. Many book lovers may not have the necessary software for reading e-books. Further, all cannot afford an iPad, laptop or e-book reader. So, Print media is still popular. A system may create a problem at any time and if you have a paperback book, you need not worry about all such issues. Reading eBooks can also be a strain on the eyes and you have to consider this.

Though many book lovers appreciate digital books, the traditional way is preferred mostly. Many readers enjoy the smell of a book. The key is in the experience while you read the paperback. Books, with its particular smell, can take you to another world.

Paperback or E-books?
Definitely, it is a never-ending topic of debate. As both eBooks and paperbacks have their own advantages, it is hard to decide which one is the best. The preference may change depending on various factors including lifestyle, personality and budget. You can decide the style accordingly. If you are planning to publish a book, then it is better to use both options to make people aware of your work.
